There are 6 RSPB reserves easily accessible by car, amongst them the famous and important wetland habitat at Insh Marshes which is home to lapwings, redshanks and curlews in the spring, and during the winter flooding flocks of whooper swan and greylag geese can be spotted.
Wildlife in the Highlands
Apart from the species you will see as you walk through this wonderful part of the world we are also lucky to have the Highland Wildlife Park just down the road who have seen the recent addition of a couple of polar bears along with wild boars, beavers and new born reindeer. Look out for the mad grouse!Or why not try a visit to Speyside Wildlife who run fully inclusive, fully guided, bird, whale and mammal watching holidays, in Scotland and around the world, for enthusiasts of every ability, plus tailor-made wildlife watching tours of any length to suit your requirements.
